Slow Cookers Are The Way Forward

Ever heard of a slow cooker ? I am sure that almost all modern families have at least. Long gone are the views of the man goes out to provide for the family while the lady of the house ties up her apron on and slaves away over a cooker (fortunately !)

In the modern world every event is pretty much 50/50 with woman and men both sharing the responsibilities of providing for a family, house work and various other dictations brought into the equation. However, With the modern world ever changing people are starting to discover how gadgets can save time providing people with crucial family time giving more time to invest in a hobby or simply avoid mundane tasks like the plague !

Let me introduce the slow cooker !

Slow cookers have been around for quite some time, around about 1970's they first appeared onto the market so have had some time to develop over the years. Undoubtedly the 1970's models were prototypes and provided questionable results making them very unpopular or many people simply couldn't afford them due to there astronomically high price tags. The good news for the modern world is they are not only affordable but 'perfected' into the perfect little kitchen utensil that will enrich your life and save you time (seriously, these slow cookers are great!)

Imagine this for a moment, your family goes out to work. You come home and have a hot casserole, soup or any food you like waiting for your return ? Basically it cooks its self without you even having to lift a finger... OK, you do need to put the food in the slow cooker and chop it up, but other than that. Your good to go. I love them, I recently purchased one around 5 months ago just as the weather was turning bitter here in the UK and there is nothing better than returning home to a freshly cooked meal without me having to invest to much time getting it ready, its litrly saved me a good hour+ per day giving me time to work on side projects.

That's nice... but whats the food quality like ? Robots cooking me dinner !?

Undoubtedly, you get what you pay for when it comes to a slow cooker, cheap models will certainly provide you head aches from burnt food, under cooked, malfunctions, leaking tops and in general not worth the hassle. Don't fear, good slow cookers are still low on the price tag, you can pick up an awesome slow cooker for about £20 (or $31 USD) very inexpensive for the usage they provide you and the family.

If you take the time to research the market you can get a good slow cooker that will provide quality cooked food, second to none - some slow cookers perform so well its like having a chef who cooks you a meal when you return home. Provided you purchase a larger model you can have slow cookers that provide for 4+ people with left overs to spare if you fancy freezing them for a late night snack, lunch for work or any other occasion.

Slow cookers have come along way in their designs and are forever changing making it difficult to keep up with the latest 'must have' feature. But for me I purchased a simple 1.5 Litre slow cooker with 3 cook settings - Low, High and keep warm, no bells or whistles just a simple slow cooker to get my meals sorted for when I get home from dreaded work ! I really don't know how I lived so long without one of these little gadgets - top marks from me in the convenience department.
